Domains and Duplicate Content

The fact that the website appears with www. or without www can sometimes cause content to be considered as duplicate content by Google or other search engines, as if they were two different websites.



To avoid possible incidents and penalties by Google, it is very important to determine the domain with www. as a primary domain, so that the home page, for example, is always You can provide this information from the domain management panel or simply from Google Webmaster Tools, which allows this option, as it directly tells to Google which is the preferred domain.

    This is a useful article. It’s definitely worth fixing your website’s canonicalization so that everyone (users & search engines) are using and bookmarking/indexing the ‘right’ URL.

    Also important to prevent against potential duplicate content issues is to ensure that your content isn’t plagiarized.
